Florida is one of the easiest states in the country to get married in. No residency requirement. Out-of-state couples skip the waiting period that Florida residents have. You grab your license from any Florida county clerk, like the Okaloosa County Clerk, bring your IDs, and you are set. You need an officiant, and lucky for you, I am ordained. I can lead your ceremony and photograph it, which means one less vendor to find and one more person on the beach who already knows your love story.

Where to Elope Around Destin

Henderson Beach State Park: tall white dunes, no high rises in your background, and the most protected stretch of sand in town. My top pick for ceremonies.

Crystal Beach and Okaloosa Island: classic Destin. Wide sand, emerald water, easy access for any guests joining you.

The 30A towns: Grayton Beach, Seaside, and Rosemary Beach bring pastel cottages, bike paths, and a storybook backdrop twenty minutes down the road. Grayton Beach State Park might be the prettiest sand in Florida, and I do not say that lightly.

Sunrise, anywhere: the secret to a private beach in a tourist town is getting married while everyone else sleeps. Sunrise ceremonies get you empty sand, soft pink light, and the whole day still ahead of you.

When to Go

March through May and September through early November are the sweet spots: warm water, softer crowds, and golden light. Summer works if you go sunrise or late evening, because midday heat and spring break crowds are real. Late summer is storm season, so we build a weather plan, and I watch the radar so you do not have to.

Ways to Make It More Than a Ceremony

This is where a Destin beach elopement turns into a whole experience instead of a twenty minute photo op. My favorite upgrades my couples build into their day:

Sunset catamaran sail: say your vows on the sand, then celebrate on the water with champagne while dolphins show off next to the boat.

Beach bonfire: end the night with a permitted bonfire, s’mores, and your first dance barefoot in the sand.

Crab Island day-after: rent a pontoon and spend your first married day floating the famous sandbar. Yes, I will come photograph it. Yes, it is as fun as it looks.

Private chef dinner: a table for two on the sand or at your 30A rental, cooked by a local chef, no reservation chaos.

Morning-after session: back in the dress, in the water this time. Salt, sunrise, and zero pressure, because the vows are already said.

What It Really Costs

A Destin beach elopement runs a fraction of a traditional wedding. Your beach is free or close to it, your marriage license is around 86 dollars (less with a Florida premarital course), and your big investments are your photographer and the experiences you stack into the day. Compare that to a venue bill for 150 guests and the math gets loud.
